I had been wondering what to post next. WOW! I found something powerful. Please take a couple of minutes to watch:

This really makes you stop and think about the use of technology in the classroom. After watching, I am more motivated to incorporate and broaden my knowledge. Educators tell their students to "think out of the box." Educators must also "think out of the box." Hope you enjoy!
Data, and Documents, and Pivots....Oh My!

Good job, Denise! Video was poignant...made me think how I really need to continue to advocate for more access to technology for my students. We are fortunate to have 3 labs: one for K-12 (they do Waterford), one for 3-5 (they do SuccssMaker), and one for 6-8 (we can do Study Island, but most of us plan other things, also). I have scheduled 45 minutes per week for each class...K-5 usually go 3 to 5 times per week. So, our labs are pretty booked up.
ReplyDeleteThe video has encouraged me to advocate for as much tech time for my kids as I can possibly get. Some may say I need to concentrate of that EOG (I teach ELA)...but the kids are so pyched at the idea of learning to do a PowerPoint this year...I have promised myself to try and teach them!
I love that video. I teach Business/Information Technology at C S Brown-SDC High School. It is easy for me to allow my students to use technology. I have had to learn so much and I am still learning. This year I am trying to broaden my students horizons by allowing them to visit several college campuses to learn about technology programs. Friday they visited the graphics department at Chowan University in Murfreesboro and on November 3rd they will visit ITT in Norfolk, Virginia.
