I had a great experience today at Craven Early College. I stopped by to check in with the Algebra 2 teachers who are doing an outstanding job. The entire class period was spent using technology. Each student has a laptop which makes this tech. usage much easier. The class began with a review using a WIKI page. The teacher had listed each topic that would be covered on the upcoming assessment along with notes. The students were able to compare the topics listed with their own notes to be sure they had all materials to study. They then proceeded to a website for AlgeCaching. This was wonderful! I had so much fun! If you are not familiar with AlgeCaching, it is a lot like a scavenger hunt. Math problems were given along with instructions of what to do with the answers they came up with. For instance, it may say to multiply your answers from part 1 and then find the product of that number and the cube of 25. The answer derived had to be included in the URL in order to go to the next problem. The students covered a wide variety of skills in such a fun way. They were so excited when they had the right answer that led them to the next part. They were high fiving and pulling for each other. I had a wonderful visit. I can't wait to go back!
